Ive only worked on it for a couple hours so its nowhere near completion, but i felt as if i should share some screenshots anyways.

For optimization, texture the areas the player will never see with “sky” texture.

That only really mattered in sauer where you wanted to conserve precious lightmap texture space and thus size. But if you must, remember to turn skyshadow to 1, otherwise the sunlight will go through the skytexture.

See this topic for a test map with snow.
It involves placing particle entities at the bottom of your map. The snow particles will collide with geometry, so you can just add snow everywhere.
