I am trying to make tesseract to run but it does not more than a few seconds, after loading the map and without firing the gun. If i fire the gun, i get double free corruption. Another thing is that i checked what is going wrong with valgrind... and when i play with valgrind, tesseract NEVER crashes!! That makes the debug imposible for me.
My spects, running in Debian 64bits:
Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ironlake Mobile (Tungsten Graphics, Inc)
Driver: 2.1 Mesa 8.0.5
GLSL: 1.20
Rendering using the OpenGL GLSL shader path.

sound init failed (SDL_mixer): No such audio device
I also tested the game in a ati 5850 + ubuntu 64 bits, and runs perfectly, But i want to play
what about the idea to port the engine to Ogre3d or Irrlicht? Irrlicht could allow to support low and mid end hardware. I know... it sounds crazy... (:

That version of Mesa is too old. Upgrade to Mesa 9 at least, though Mesa 10 would be better. Regardless, your Intel IGP is probably too old/slow to play Tesseract anyway.
Your Radeon 5850 should however be fine.
