LAN Server and other questions

So I know there's another thread about this, but it appears to be for Windows systems.

How do I make a LAN game/server on mac client?

Also, can you play this cross-platform? Like can I play with my friends who are using Windows with my Mac?

Thanks for all your answers

Yes you can, why would you be unable to? :/

Yes you can play crossplatform, pretty awesome for LAN parties.

The simple way: on any system you can start the game and type:
/startlistenserver
and your local compatriots on the same network can type:
/lanconnect

EDIT: thanks RaZgRiZ

shouldn't that be /lanconnect ?
afaik localhost is the same as editing offline.

Oh yeah, /lanconnect is the right command, I screwed that up. But /connect localhost seems to work the same, I may be wrong though. I'll change that.

Localhost is the system you are using. It will only work if you started the server on the same system.
