Is there a feature roadmap for the engine? Or maybe a trello, so people can contribute with ideas?

Nope

Maybe someone should start a fork so that all of us can work on it together? Improvements to the master version could be backported. Just a random idea :P

Improvements to the master? You talk as if this game is not still a WIP.

Ah, but what lovely progress so far.

Have you compared the first release to the SVN version?

The earlier versions that were on GitHub wouldn't even compile on a couple of my PCs, the 1st release did however. The videos available were impressive, but obviously clunky back then, just showing the promise of what could be. I tested the 1st release with maxing out the settings, it crashed. The recent releases haven't crashed for me .... so far.... (~.~)

Recent releases? There aren't any. There's always been only one release, the very first one.
And Tesseract doesn't host its repositories on GitHub anymore either.

I would've assumed you were aware of these so-called "Nightly Builds"
New one just yesterday (my time)
If perhaps it wasn't clear that was what I was referring to, sorry. To me, that is a release, it's made available, it's new, it's there.
Of these during the past few months, none have crashed on my PC.... so, that's looking good IMHO
