Tesseract has the same procedural grass as sauer: it places grass sprites on a surface around the camera. It is pretty good but for some reason you can't save some of it's variables inside your map or even cfg file, like grass height, which is pretty essential in my opinion.

You set it up like this:

texture 0 "nobiax/pattern042_diffuse.png"
texgrass lordkv\khornegrass.png // Important bit
grasstest 0.1 // value for alpha test
grasscolour 255 255 0
grassanimmillis 2000
