Running a server

When you run the "server.bat" does it host the server on your LAN or online for anyone to play on? When I go to the server browser I see several servers that are always there (with 0 players, never met anyone in game yet), and I can connect to them fine.
But how would one set up a server to host online constantly if the .bat runs a LAN server?

It hosts it on both. But in order for your server to be accessible from the Internet, forward port 42000 in UDP.
